Woodturning demonstrations by Richard Findley
How it all began…
I have been involved in woodwork and joinery since leaving school in 1996 and I started The Turner’s Workshop in 2006 with the aim if selling my woodturning. In 2005, while still an enthusiastic hobbyist, I joined Tudor Rose Woodturners and discovered a wider world of woodturning than the inside of my workshop.
I was asked by the club secretary if I would be willing to do a demonstration on a club night at short notice after a cancellation, I agreed and the rest, as they say, is history.
I am now a well-established name on the demonstration circuit and regularly demonstrate to clubs around the country. I have also demonstrated at several major events worldwide, including at the AWGB seminar, the Irish Woodturner’s Guild seminar and at several American symposia.
I now also offer interactive remote demos, which offer the chance to watch a live demo from the comfort of your own home.

In 2010 I was accepted onto the Register of Professional Turners, an organisation that aims to promote woodturning and maintain the standards of its members by receiving feedback from people that have come into contact with members at demos.
I usually bring along a selection of items shown on the woodturning supplies page for sale and I am happy to bring along specific items by request.
I feel it is worth noting that I am fully insured when demonstrating
During my demos, I have covered subjects including:
- Spindle turning
- Bowl turning
- Skew chisel work
- Hand-cut barley twists
- Sharpening
- Table lamps
- Box making
- Pewter casting
- Thread chasing
I am happy to discuss your club’s requirements when booking and work out the best demo to suit your membership. Feel free to contact me to discuss this via phone or email.
My charges for 2026 will be:
Evening demonstration £210 plus 47p per mile
(Starting in Leicester LE18 2FB)
Full-day demonstrations £320 plus 47p per mile
(Starting in Leicester LE18 2FB)
Please note, my diary is now full for 2026 and 2027. I will be opening my 2028 diary in January 2027 – although there is some availability for IRDs
